New items!

I’ll be adding some new goodies to the shop tomorrow. These two below along with the lino print ones I’ve mentioned earlier.

I’m participating in another virtual market over at Poppytalk Handmade. This time around it’s all about paper. So check out all the great things there and come by my table.

hello friday + terrain

I am so glad that it’s finally Friday. Not too much has been going on here in Jengs world this past week, just doing what I do best (keeping busy) and of course hoping for better weather. This entire weekend will be cloudy, rainy and a bit chilly :(

On another note, here’s some Jengs Shop news that brightened up my day. It all started here: I’ve been an avid reader of Oh Joy! (written by Joy from Oh Joy! Studios & Nantaka Joy - paper & pattern) - I love her stuff! Anyways, when I found out that she was going to Pennsylvania to visit the new Terrain I got super excited. I was planning on going in 2 weeks to scope it out and to take some pictures. I was really really curious to see what it was going to be like.

You ask why? Well, way back when (I think around Thanksgiving time) a buyer from Terrain contacted me and was interested in wholesale. She had found me through Etsy :) When it all happened I couldn’t believe it, I didn’t want to believe it. I didn’t want to think anything of it, I guess I was shielding myself in case nothing would come out of it. When I was on vacation in February, they contacted me out of no where and placed an order. I was SOOOO very thrilled!! I walked around with a smile on my face for days, I really mean it! Days! :) It was so hard for me not to say a word of it here. My stuff was going to be a part of a new concept from Urban Outfitters Inc. Wow! I just couldn’t say anything until I saw it for myself and had actual proof that it was there. But since I still haven’t had time to go (still planning on it though) I was fortunate enough to find my goodies amongst Joy’s photos of Terrain. Take a look! Such wonderful things to see and everything so nicely situated! Here’s the one with my 3 notebooks (bottom left) :)

Photo from Joy

Thanks Joy for getting there before me and taking wonderful photos of the place :) Just makes me want to go even more!

Have a great weekend everyone!

finds: Nick Neuland

The website I mentioned in my last post is finally up. Please take a look at my friend’s work, Nick Neuland’s website. There you will see a simple site that I designed for him to showcase his work. He will be graduating with his Master’s from the NY Academy of Art. They’re actually having a MFA Diploma Exhibition opening on 5/16 from 7-9pm through 5/30. If you’re in the NY area swing by, there will be some amazing pieces. Here are my two favorites from Nick’s website collection.

affordable web hosting

Having a website seems to be so important now a days and almost everyone I know has one. So if you don’t know where to start, take a look at this site (I use it myself and for the websites that I create), Netfirms. I did a lot of research back in the days looking for cheap places to create a domain and to host a website.

They were and still are the cheapest I’ve ever found. If you know of any others please share them in the comments. I’d love to know and I’m sure there are many others who would too. And you know what? Even they’ve gone green. You can click here to read more about that. Everyone and everything has gone green :) I guess whether it’s just a trend or simple awareness, it doesn’t matter because in the end it’s just a good thing.

flickr pro

I am now a flickr pro. I never thought that I would go beyond the 200 images they allow for a free account. Wow. So now another expense added on top of my list of expenses. But it’s all worth it. Isn’t it? Sometimes I get scared.

blogs galore

creature comforts

There are so many great blogs out there today that sometimes it’s hard to keep track of them all or even to decide which ones to read. Well thanks to Creature Comforts, a great blog on it’s own, has created an index of all their great blog finds. The design and style section is nicely organized, gallery style, in alphabetical order.

It is overwhelming the amount of blogs to read out there. I use google reader, it’s so easy to use. Every time I find one that I like I add it to my list. After a while the list gets so very long that I have to sort them out to the ones I really enjoy. It’s a cycle and I’m sure you all do the same.

keeping busy, laying low

Sorry I’ve been laying low for a while. I’ve got some new items in the shop. More will be making it’s appearance within this week. I don’t really have much going on with my daily life, just been working 9-7 as usual so really tired lately at nights. Shouldn’t have taken a vacation :) Still working my way out of vacation mode.

On to other news, while I was on vacation Beverly from la paperie & cozy was kind enough to ask me to be a feature on her blog. I’ve never done this before so this is my first interview. It’s up now and you can read it here. It’s weird answering questions like that. It sort of made me realize that I live a pretty boring life. Oh well that’s me. I hope you enjoy and thanks again Bev.

some good news

I’ve got some good news, while I was on vacation I got a wholesale order from Amy from Spa Habitat, which is an organic spa located in a beautiful Victorian home in Historic Downtown Plano, Texas (just north of Dallas). Amy was looking for some unique products for her spa boutique and contacted me through Etsy. (Really. What would I be doing without Etsy?)

So, along with their organic spa products and treatments you’ll be able to purchase some of Jengs Shop products as well. How cool is that? I finished up the order today. Tomorrow (well it’s really today since it’s 1am right now) my babies will be off to Texas. After all that work, it’s a little sad sending my things away. But in the end, it’s the best feeling ever. Thank you so much Amy for supporting a little independent designer here in New York.

did someone say free advertising?

The Indiego

Hello everyone. Katie from morelle contacted me earlier and alerted me of this new website, The Indiego, she and her boyfriend, Jesper, put together. It’s a new advertising tool designed to help independent designers and artists promote their creations, the indie way. It’s amazing, it’s easy and free. What else can we ask for, right? Go create an ad and sign up. All you do is insert a little html on your website/blog to display a little ad and then somewhere in the www, your ad is being displayed. How cool is that?

Thank you guys!!!
