finds: Nick Neuland

Friday, May 2, 2008 No Comments

The website I mentioned in my last post is finally up. Please take a look at my friend’s work, Nick Neuland’s website. There you will see a simple site that I designed for him to showcase his work. He will be graduating with his Master’s from the NY Academy of Art. They’re actually having a MFA Diploma Exhibition opening on 5/16 from 7-9pm through 5/30. If you’re in the NY area swing by, there will be some amazing pieces. Here are my two favorites from Nick’s website collection.

hello monday

Monday, April 28, 2008 1 Comment

The weekend has passed (too quickly as usual). I hope everyone’s weekend was good! On Sunday we went to my cousins wedding in New Jersey and ate a lot. mmm cocktail hour was full of yummy foods :) Weddings are always fun. I caught the bouquet by the way … hmm … and MF caught the garter thingy … hmm … I think it was all a set up, what do you think that means? Anyways, it was all in good fun!

I also was able to work on some websites. One was just updating and one was totally new and will be up soon. I’ll post here when it’s all finished and up.

Here’s a new card I also added to the shop today.

Have a great week!

And thanks to those who commented on my product shots :)

product shots

I’ve worked up some new designs and I’ve been trying to take better photos. I’m always reading that what sells your product (besides great craftsmanship) is your product shots, especially on the internet. Right now, maybe because it’s all springy out, I’m sort of bored with my usual white background. I still like it and it’s simple but I feel like trying something new. I don’t know. Here’s two shots, you even get a peek at what’s to come out soon. I went around and tried to find props within my house, there’s not a lot :) In the background I’ve got a black mail/letter holder, a mason jar holding pens and some clips :)

Anyways, I would love to know what you think!

all things flowery

Thursday, April 24, 2008 No Comments

What I set out to do earlier, I did :) I took an awesome walk through the (almost) new and improved Queens Botanical Garden. When I walked through the gate, I almost didn’t recognize where I was, I haven’t been by since last fall. They spent about two years fixing it all up and it seems they’re almost close to finish. It was great walking around and taking photos of all the pretty flowers and trees, the weather was gorgeous today and I’m glad I started my weekend with a walk in the park. Yes that’s right, a four day weekend, and I’m savoring every moment of it :)

I hope everyone has some fun things lined up this weekend! I know I do, so enjoy :)

catching up

Thursday, April 24, 2008 No Comments

Been away from the blogging world lately, but I’m back now. Today is going to be an all day catch up day with Jengs Shop work, laundry and cleaning up. I only just had one cup of coffee, soon to have another, and then I’m going to go outside and take a nice walk (of course with my camera). I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had time to take any pictures. I’ve missed most of the beautiful blooming trees. Hopefully I’ll find some late bloomers on my walk.

The photo above was just me playing around with one of my photos in photoshop. I’ve got a lot planned for today so I’ll be back later with some more stuff :) Have a good one!

happy saturday

Saturday, April 19, 2008 1 Comment

It’s been a crazy week for me here and I’ll be working straight through the weekend up until Wed. Busy busy. Too bad it’s not for my own stuff but for my “other” job. It’s really ok, actually. I’ll be getting 20 hours of over time and more money is always good right?

In other news, I’ve been making a mobile of four doves for my really good friend whose going to be having a baby sometime the end of June. So here’s a little peek (it’s just at the beginning stages). I’ve never made plushies before and I’m just having fun with it. I hope it turns out really great, all the mom’s at the baby shower will be jealous. Anyways, I can’t show too much. She hasn’t seen it yet.

affordable web hosting

Thursday, April 17, 2008 No Comments

Having a website seems to be so important now a days and almost everyone I know has one. So if you don’t know where to start, take a look at this site (I use it myself and for the websites that I create), Netfirms. I did a lot of research back in the days looking for cheap places to create a domain and to host a website.

They were and still are the cheapest I’ve ever found. If you know of any others please share them in the comments. I’d love to know and I’m sure there are many others who would too. And you know what? Even they’ve gone green. You can click here to read more about that. Everyone and everything has gone green :) I guess whether it’s just a trend or simple awareness, it doesn’t matter because in the end it’s just a good thing.

It was a happy Sunday today.

(Images were taken by me near/around downtown Manhattan while crazily looking for a damn parking spot, nearly impossible but eventually it does happen.)
