new york 7 train

I got a shot of what the train looked like this morning. Yes, new years eve, I had to work at my other “job.” It was a really nice ride. I guess no one had to work but me :) oh and that guy on the other end of the train. Normally it’s jam packed with people, sitting and standing, butt cheek on someone else’s lap, elbow in someone else’s face, you know. Sometimes people can’t even get on because it’s so packed. So this was a nice change…

I’ve been taking a lot of pictures lately. Below are some by my house.

This second shot is a man made pond very nearby. They rebuilt this huge land near the highway about 3 or 4 years ago, trying to beautify the neighborhood, and I never went down there to look. Can you believe it? I mean, I drove by it all the time. I just never took a looksee up close. When MF and I went for a little walk yesterday, it wasn’t so pretty, to tell you the truth sorta scary. No one was around. There were these really long paths that intertwined the area, some went really close to the highway. (Loud and noisy) :(

Anyways, everyone have an awesome and safe New Years!! See you in 2008 :)

douglaston pond

There’s only one more day that we have left of this year before we can start dating our letters and check books 2008. (It usually takes me a few weeks before I’d get use to writing the new year.)

I truly am so grateful of everything that happened this year, MF finding a new job and getting a pretty nice bonus for only being there for 6 months, both of us realizing together the steps we need to take towards a better future, my best friend Despina finding out that she’s having a baby, and most of all, the realization of how important Jengs Shop is to me and how much I need it (and didn’t even know). Jengs Shop, the products I design, create and sell, is the only thing in my life that is just mine, well besides MF :) Thank you for those that bought my goodies and hopefully loved it because no joke, with every sale my heart raced with joy because I knew that someone would be using something that I made. Thank you Thank you Thank you! Because it was you that made me realize that Jengs Shop is real and that it can be “something” :)

I’m looking forward to a brand new year with brand new adventures.

little photo trip

tree path jennifer eng

My brother and I went on a little photo excursion yesterday. We didn’t go anywhere exciting, we went to the NYIT campus. (I mentioned the beautiful campus a few posts ago, here.) I worked in a few good shots. It was sorta late and then the clouds came in, no one was around. Everyone was off because of winter break and the holidays. It’s a little weird being in an unfamiliar place, just walking around. They had these really funny looking trees, I don’t know what they’re called, but they were everywhere. They’re tall and their tops are large and spiky, sort of cactus like.

snowflake light by jonathan eng

That snowflake light is a picture that my brother, Jonathan, took. He’s sorta a shutter bug himself. You can check out his flickr here.

Well, in one day it’ll be Christmas. I finally got all my presents together. I think I waited even closer this year then last :) The year has gone by so very fast. I can’t believe 2007 is almost behind us. It’s almost time to create a list of resolutions. Did I even accomplish the ones I had at the beginning of this year? Merry Christmas everyone and be safe. I hope it’ll be spent with the ones you love.

rainy days

Sunday, December 16, 2007 No Comments

It’s been really yucky out these past two days. We were suppose to get snow, but no, we just get rain. Not even real rain, just misty rain. On Friday, I was able to take this wonderful photo while out on a little excursion in Long Island. I ended up on NYIT‘s Old Westbury campus, don’t ask. Anyways, I had no idea that this school was on such beautiful property. The land was enormous, with great curvy roads and hills and hills of white snow and trees. The buildings are historic with that old world style and feel.

I can’t wait until the weather clears up and is nice again. I want to go back a take some more pictures.

wet + snowy

Friday, December 14, 2007 No Comments

I was so happy to wake up to snow yesterday morning but then later on in the day it just turned into hail and then rain, which turned the snow into slush. Shoveling was a b!@#$. The snow was fifty times heavier. Yeah, I’m still waiting for that huge snow storm, where everything is completely still, the snow all white and fluffy.

I managed to make it a productive day. Put together a whole bunch of notebooks, and added a few new colors to one of my designs. I’ll put them up in the shop when there’s better lighting. It’s just been really gray here in New York for the past week. Hopefully today there will be a little sun.

Below are some photos of outside yesterday, while shoveling. Everything was iced over, even the little plants and trees.

some custom fun

Sometimes it’s hard to see what’s in front of you until someone else points it out. I basically sell prints and paper goods in my etsy shop, and never really think of combining my designs. I guess I always saw them as two separate lines. Well, within these two weeks, I was asked to create two custom blank notebooks. One was for my poppy note card design and the other was for my lonely bike print to be the covers. I only have a picture of the lonely bike one (it looks really cute), I was so excited about the first one that I forgot to snap some shots of it (that one was a nice one too). That’s what inspired me to make these poppy mini notebooks.

So here’s the lonely bike notebook (I hope you like it Laurisa of KumoKumo):

There may be some more design intertwining after this one.
